Sarah was born and raised in Uganda, and it's where her passion for this work began. Angie's Heart of Hope CIC is registered and based in the UK — our Uganda work is carried out in partnership with trusted local contacts and grows as our resources allow.
Mental health is often deeply misunderstood in Uganda, and many families face poverty, stigma and very limited access to support. Sarah's own upbringing there shapes how we approach this work: with respect, humility, and a commitment to dignity rather than a one-off act of charity.
We are building our Uganda activities carefully and honestly. Rather than promise more than we can deliver, we're sharing exactly where things stand today, and we'll update this page as our work grows.
Angie's Heart of Hope Project in Uganda: brick by brick, a new community space is taking shape. What began as bare earth and scaffolding is now a fully plastered, freshly painted building with a tiled veranda where our team and the families we support can gather. Alongside the main building, local volunteers are hand-building an outdoor sports ring, giving children and young people a safe, structured place for exercise, discipline and friendship. Every coat of paint, every tile laid and every post raised is the result of the care and generosity behind our mission, in the UK and in Uganda.
Practical help for families facing hunger, homelessness or crisis — food, essentials, and a listening ear.
Supporting children's access to schooling and skills, so hardship doesn't have to define a child's future.
Community conversations that reduce stigma and help people feel able to ask for support.
Working with trusted community contacts on the ground, so support reaches people responsibly and safely.
Our new community building in Uganda is nearly complete: plastered, painted and tiled, with an outdoor sports ring for local children and young people. See the latest progress photos in the gallery below.
