Safeguarding Statement

Last reviewed: 4 August 2026

Angie's Heart of Hope CIC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults at risk who come into contact with our work, and we expect everyone connected with our organisation — staff, volunteers, trustees and partners — to share this commitment.

Our commitment

  • We take all reasonable steps to ensure the people we support are protected from harm, abuse, neglect and exploitation.
  • We recruit volunteers and any future staff safely, including appropriate checks (such as DBS checks) where a role involves contact with children or adults at risk.
  • We provide safeguarding awareness to everyone involved in delivering our activities.
  • We take all concerns, disclosures and allegations seriously, and respond promptly and appropriately.
  • We work in partnership with statutory agencies (such as the local authority, police, and NHS) where a safeguarding concern requires it.

Our current safeguarding lead

Sarah Nalugwa, Founder, is our interim safeguarding lead while Angie's Heart of Hope CIC is newly established. As the organisation grows, we intend to appoint a dedicated Safeguarding Officer and adopt a full, detailed safeguarding policy setting out procedures for reporting, recording, and escalating concerns.

How to raise a concern

If you have a concern about the welfare of a child or adult at risk connected to our work, please contact us at angieheartofhope@gmail.com as soon as possible. If you believe someone is in immediate danger, always contact the police on 999 first.

Stories we share

Where we share a story involving a child or another vulnerable person on this website or our social media, we take care to protect their identity — using first names only, avoiding identifying images, locations or school details, and only publishing with appropriate consent. See our Privacy Notice for more on how we handle this.

This is not a crisis service

Angie's Heart of Hope CIC is not an emergency or crisis service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999. For urgent mental-health support, call NHS 111 or Samaritans on 116 123 (free, 24/7). See our Get Support page for more.

Review

This statement will be reviewed and expanded as the organisation develops, and as we adopt formal safeguarding policies and procedures.
